January 5, 2015 — CoActiv Medical debuted a fully cloud-based version of its advanced Exam-RIS (radiology information system) solution at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2014 conference as part of its full suite of digital radiology products. Along with this the vendor introduced a diagnostic version of Exam-Browser, which enables anywhere, anytime high-fidelity reading capabilities on any high-resolution display.

Exam-RIS in the cloud features flexible rules-based exam routing, load balancing and immediately updating multi-site worklists.  Exam-RIS Enterprise also offers advanced client and referring physician communications and report distribution features. It automatically integrates with CoActiv Exam-PACS (picture archive and communication system) as well as CoActiv Exam-Browser and vendor neutral archive (VNA) storage product portfolio.

Enhancing its functionality, Exam-Cloud/Exam-Vault VNA can be deployed to image-enable an electronic health record (EHR) without a VPN, thanks to CoActiv’s patented Exam-Sender image distribution system which uses a standard Internet connection. Exam-Sender provides full data encryption and supports user-controlled access with tiered permissions from any location.

Recent updates to Exam-PACS include interface utilities that can update an electronic medical record (EMR) to enable access to a specific patient exam residing in Exam-PACS, contributing to user qualification for meaningful use, as well as the Exam-Jacket timeline for access to multiple relevant prior exams.

This year, CoActiv expands anytime, anywhere image access enabled through the Exam-Cloud VNA to include additional workflow options for diagnostic reading. The CoActiv VNA now supports diagnostic quality zero-footprint DICOM image viewing. Upgrades also include enhanced comparative viewing, access to priors through a variety of timeline implementations, support for a greater range of modalities, mobile device support and more. Exam-Cloud also expands support for image management and workflow efficiencies for users upgrading from legacy systems.
