modus mri systems phantom Quasar MRID3D rsna 2013

January 9, 2014 — Modus Medical Devices Inc. debuted Quasar MRID3D, a patent-pending method for quantifying geometric distortion in 3-D magnetic resonance (MR) images, at the Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting (RSNA 2013) in Chicago.

Unlike distortion analysis products that only sample a few imaging planes, Quasar MRID3D analyzes the entire 3-D field of view in a single acquisition. The system software uses harmonic analysis to automatically derive a complete volumetric map of the distortion vector field by analyzing the location of control points in images of the phantom. The hollow phantom has a diameter of 40 cm, length of 35 cm, weighs less than 17 kg and is constructed of clear acrylic with an array of control points on the surface of a cylinder, which contain mineral oil for image contrast.
