SonoPro guides physicians through interpretive process for diagnostic ultrasound

January 3, 2014 — Ikonopedia announced the launch of its SonoPro breast ultrasound interpretation and reporting module, designed to guide radiologists through the interpretive process for diagnostic breast ultrasound exams, at the Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting (RSNA 2013) in Chicago.
 
Delivered as a cloud-based web application, SonoPro is based upon the teaching files of Thomas Stavros, M.D., co-founder, Ikonopedia, and author of Breast Ultrasound. SonoPro guides the physician through the interpretive process for diagnostic ultrasound with an intuitive lesion locator tool designed specifically for breast ultrasound. SonoPro’s image-based interface enables users to work at optional levels of specificity and automatically generates structured MQSA- and BI-RADS-compliant reports.
 
Ikonopedia’s BreastPro is a suite of breast imaging report generation software tools that indexes breast findings based on what they look like rather than what they are called. As the radiologist selects images on the Ikonopedia screen that most closely match the patient's images, a structured language report is generated from a standardized lexicon.
 
When difficult calls are encountered, embedded reference and educational materials are immediately available via a context-sensitive, multimedia reference library drawn from the teaching files and maintained by Ikonopedia founders László Tabár, M.D., (mammography), Stavros (ultrasound) and Michael Vendrell, M.D. (MR). Interactive images also allow regions of interest to be localized and other characteristics of the patient image to be described visually. These visual cues are then automatically translated into a report with no dictation, no pull down menus and no introduction of error.
 
By presenting physicians with visual correlation between the patient image and the closest teaching example, the system enables physicians to move through the interpretive process without needing to describe findings or to check reports for transcription or grammatical errors. Shortcuts for adding required recommendations and to change the BI-RADS and breast density scores are available while adding addenda when advisable.
