November 25, 2013 — Carestream will announce a new generation of its Vue RIS platform (as a work in progress) at the Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting (RSNA 2013) in Chicago. Vue RIS will support new features that will address Stage 2 Meaningful Use and new ICD-10 codes in the United States and innovative integrated radiology information systems (RIS)/picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) reporting that will expedite physician access to patient information and images.

According to Cristine Kao, global marketing director for healthcare information solutions, Carestream, Carestream will demonstrate the ability for radiologists to insert bookmarks with key images that may contain vessel analysis or measurement data into their reports at RSNA 2013.

“We are finding new ways to equip physicians with easy access to important diagnostic information that can help optimize treatment decisions,” said Kao. “Embedding this imaging information in the report will also help radiologists gain a more comprehensive view of the patient, since they will be able to view these image links when viewing prior reports.”

Carestream’s current Vue RIS platform was the one of the first platforms to be certified for meaningful use as an electronic health record (EHR) module and as a complete EHR for eligible providers. The company’s newest RIS is scheduled to support many Stage 2 meaningful use capabilities including: family health history, health information portability and sharing, online patient access to information and changes to comply with the way information is tracked to increase sharing efficiency and improve overall patient outcomes.

Vue RIS will also support the upcoming ICD-10 transition with larger data tables and more sophisticated algorithms that will help users work efficiently and expedite rapid access to codes.  Carestream also plans to introduce support for new rules from the American College of Radiology (ACR) for code tagging and tracking.

Carestream Vue RIS streamlines reporting with auto-insertion of patient and exam information and integrates tightly with Vue PACS. It offers customized reporting, critical results tracking, peer reviews and a worklist that can be tailored to meet workflow needs. The RIS also integrates with a wide array of applications, tools, accessories and network peripherals and delivers user-friendly tools that equip RIS/PACS administrators to optimize staff and equipment resources.
