Medical Insight EasyViz 5.0 PACS Remote Viewing System

July 1, 2013 — On May 15, 2013, Medical Insight released EasyViz 5.0 — the latest version of their diagnostic imaging solution — as well as EasyViz Enterprise Web — a zero-footprint enterprise image viewer that sets a new standard for mobility, speed and functionality of enterprise image solutions.

“With the new diagnostic functionalities available in EasyViz 5.0 and with the new EasyViz Enterprise Web product, EasyViz becomes the imaging solution of choice whether you need to improve your diagnostic or enterprise imaging capabilities,” summarizes Niels Husted Kjær, CTO at Medical Insight.

EasyViz 5.0 presents new diagnostic tools, such as cross-hair functionality allowing fast navigation of complex magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exams and a new tool that enables radiologists to perform RECIST measurements more efficiently when evaluating how solid tumors respond to cancer treatment. EasyViz 5.0 also contains new functionality for picture archive and communication system (PACS) administrators enabling them to control user privileges more tightly. These new capabilities make EasyViz an ideal fit for enterprise PACS in any modern hospital.

Along with EasyViz 5.0, Medical Insight also released their new zero-footprint enterprise image viewer, EasyViz Enterprise Web, which provides radiologists and clinicians access to images with the full tool-set known from EasyViz Enterprise through a standard web browser. The first customers to deploy EasyViz Enterprise Web are the University College of Northern Denmark, the University College Lillebælt and the Metropolitan University College. The three colleges have responsibility for the education of radiographers in Denmark. With EasyViz Enterprise Web their students will now be able to access advanced diagnostic imaging tools from their Apple MacBook or tablet devices when they return from summer vacation in September 2013.

EasyViz 5.0 advanced enterprise PACS functionalities and the exceptional enterprise image viewing options of EasyViz Enterprise Web set Medical Insight apart from other vendors. Selecting a single vendor for the enterprise PACS and enterprise imaging solutions saves time and reduces overall costs by reducing coordination and negotiation time, as well as providing a single point of contact for maintenance and support. Using one viewer for all diagnostic imaging exams across the organization also has a positive impact on the learning curve of medical personnel and supports cross-functional collaboration.

The EasyViz imaging solution does not compromise compatibility. EasyViz relies on standard image formats and thereby avoids transforming image data to a proprietary format. There are significant costs associated with converting proprietary formats to standards formats — this cost cannot be neglected in a world where patient data is kept for a long period of time. In addition, EasyViz is fully compatible with native PACS and modalities — this enables hospitals to leverage their current investment in infrastructure.
