May 1, 2012 - Philips announces the release of EasyDiagnost Eleva DRF 5.0, now available with a wireless portable detector and detector sharing functionality. The device is Philips’ latest advancement in digital radiography (DR) and fluoroscopy, helping to bring more versatility and increased workflow efficiency to busy hospitals.

A fluoroscopy system is a must-have in any hospital. However, due to a shift towards other modalities and changes in reimbursement trends, fluoroscopy schedules are no longer full, making it inefficient for hospitals to invest in a dedicated room. EasyDiagnost Eleva DRF combines fluoroscopy with digital radiography technology, offering facilities the ability to integrate the benefits of digital imaging while creating a multipurpose imaging space, thereby optimizing investment and improving workflow. Additionally, the solution allows hospitals to customize digital radiography and fluoroscopy (DRF) rooms to fit specific needs, from classic RF suites to cutting edge bariatric DRF rooms.

“As technology has evolved, our X-ray suite needs have become multifaceted, and space in our DRF technology room is at a premium,” said Daron Vchulek, vice president of Ancillary Services at the Polyclinic in Seattle, Wash. “EasyDiagnost Eleva DRF was a logical choice for us because it provides digital radiography and fluoroscopic capabilities, and with the added flexibility of the wireless portable detector, we can now further maximize workflow efficiency and deliver optimized patient care.”

In this latest evolution of the Philips DRF room concept, EasyDiagnost Eleva integrates a wireless portable detector (WPD), enabling even more exam flexibility with a focus on patient comfort. In the DRF rooms, the detector can be placed in wireless trays in the table or vertical stand, permitting automatic charging. This new technology allows to easily move the detector between those devices. By taking the detector out of the tray, it can be used for free or cross-table exams. Additionally, with the detector sharing option, the WPD can also be utilized in other Philips digital radiography rooms or with the MobileDiagnost wDR, which enables even more customization and cost efficiency.

“Integrating a wireless portable detector into EasyDiagnost Eleva DRF is a key feature that will demonstrably improve hospital workflow,” said Phil H. Meyer, vice president and general manager Diagnostic X-Ray North America, for Philips Healthcare. “This feature, in addition to the intuitive Eleva user interface and UNIQUE software, offers workflow continuity, network integration and high- quality image processing, making the EasyDiagnost Eleva DRF a smart, cost-efficient investment.”
