September 7, 2011— Viztek debuted the high-performance FIT-DR (fixed integrated with tethered digital radiography) solution, a unique dual-detector X-ray system that combines superior image quality, ultra-fast throughput and an affordable price point compared with a single-detector wireless DR unit.

The newest configuration of this system gives a wireless option with the incorporation of the new Leggera DR, the lightest weight wireless DR panel available equipped with auto-trigger.

With its pair of high-quality cesium detectors, the FIT-DR is versatile enough to accommodate a full repertoire of X-ray exams without the time-consuming repositioning required by single-detector wireless systems. The new unit is suitable for both new and retrofit installation. The solution not only speeds throughput, but also minimizes the risk of damage due to frequent handling of delicate DR panels and places less stress on busy technologists.

The FIT-DR includes one tethered, adjustable panel that sits in a pull-out tray in the table enclosure. The panel can be easily rotated within the tray to achieve portrait and landscape orientations. A second 17-by-17-inch fixed position panel positioned in the upright wall stand eliminates any need to rotate the detector to support different patient views. Together, the two panels result in an extremely easy-to-use system that significantly reduces exam duration by eliminating most of the time-intensive panel handling required by competing single detector wireless systems.

“The Viztek FIT-DR provides the most cost-effective way to achieve high image quality with the least amount of technologist intervention and time-delay during the imaging process,” said Steve Deaton, vice president of sale for Viztek.  “For sites transitioning to digital as well as those that need additional exam capacity, the unit offers a significantly better alternative to today’s wireless DR.  We believe it will compete head-to-head with even our own wireless DR systems and achieve strong marketplace acceptance.”

The Viztek FIT-DR is available with a range of options for new room installation as well as for retrofitting into existing equipment.
