August 23, 2011 GE Healthcare announced that Centricity RIS-IC 10.7 was certified as a modular electronic health record (EHR) on August 4, 2011, by Drummond Group Inc. Modular certification indicates that Centricity RIS-IC supports select certification criteria associated with meaningful use objectives, helping eligible professionals qualify for federal health information technology (HIT) incentive payments.

Drummond Group made the designation in its capacity as an Office of the National Coordinator – authorized temporary certification body (ONC-ATCB) in accordance with the applicable Eligible Professional certification criteria adopted by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“This certification validates that our radiology workflow software can help providers take part in the electronic revolution that is reverberating across the healthcare industry,” said Don Woodlock, vice president and general manager of GE Healthcare IT. “Healthcare providers can now leverage our software, along with other certified products, to not only make significant care improvements but to also help them achieve meaningful use and qualify for federal HIT incentive funds. We are proud to offer physicians and other eligible professionals the opportunity to truly improve care in their communities.”

Drummond Group’s ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification program tests and certifies that EHRs meet some or all meaningful use criteria for either eligible provider or hospital technology. In turn, healthcare providers using one or more EHR system of certified vendors that satisfy all applicable certification criteria are qualified to receive federal adoption incentives upon demonstrating meaningful use of the certified technology – a key component of the federal government’s push to improve clinical care delivery through the adoption and effective use of EHRs by U.S. healthcare providers.

Centricity RIS-IC is a radiology information management system that helps providers optimize their workflows and clinical, administrative and financial outcomes.
