June 11, 2007 – CoActiv Medical will supply New York City’s Project Renewal ScanVan program with complete digital imaging solutions this summer. Delivering both mammography and X-ray imaging, the ScanVan mobile clinic will visit homeless shelters in the city’s five boroughs providing digital X-ray imaging for people with positive TB skin tests, and offering film-based mammograms. In the future, when the program converts to full-field digital mammography, the company says it will also support acquisition, analysis, distribution and archiving for these exams.

Data collected from the imaging procedures will be distributed to the Project Renewal’s two contract radiologists for diagnostic interpretation using CoActiv’s EXAM-NET teleradiology. Images will be automatically sent to a local CoActiv Acquire & Forward notebook server in the van and then forwarded on for temporary storage to the company’s data center in Tarrytown, NY. Using EXAM-PACS, images can then be automatically routed via the Internet for reading and reporting on the radiologists’ workstations. Images may also be sent, through the EXAM-SENDER, to referring physicians and specialists.

The ScanVan will begin operating this summer and is expected to provide services to over 5,000 homeless during its first year.
