The Titan 3T is a works-in-progress magnetic resonance (MR) system from Toshiba. The system has several patient-friendly features that are designed to improve the exam experience.

For example, the Pianissimo sound-reduction technology reduces exam noise by up to 90 percent. Additionally, the Titan 3T has a 71-centimeter aperture, which is the largest available and reduces claustrophobia. The system also has the ability to perform contrast-free MRA exams using the company’s fourth-generation non-contrast sequences. Toshiba’s Atlas coil technology eliminates the need to continually reposition patients during multiple exams.

The contrast-free MRA techniques include fresh blood imaging (FBI), contrast-free improved angiography (CIA), time-spatial labeling inversion pulse (Time-SLIP) and time and space angiography (TSA). Contrast-free techniques are important because gadolinium-based contrast agents, often used for MRA, have been directly linked to nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF).

Toshiba’s non-contrast techniques also require less setup time and greatly expand the window for image acquisition.
