October 29, 2010 – A Web-based application that combines RIS functionalities with a platform for managing key aspects of a radiology business will be on display at RSNA 2010. The Opal-wRIS, by Viztek, delivers a full range of RIS features.

The feature list includes scheduling, full modality worklist, dictation and transcription, automatic report distribution and full HL7 in-and out-bound interfaces.

Additionally, it offers a referring physician portal that lets users directly add their patients to a radiology site’s imaging schedule and immediately view reports immediately. The women’s health component delivers a range of specialized mammography features, from scheduling and automated patient reminders to reporting.

The new software also automates the complete radiology exam lifecycle. It has pre-loaded CPT codes and automated procedural diagnosis validation that will predict the likelihood an exam will be covered under a particular insurance policy. Once patients are scheduled for procedures, it provides automatic insurance pre-authorizations. Upon exam completion, the application exports charges to all major billing applications.

The new application provides built in exam follow up and outcome tracking, as well.
