September 7, 2010 — Carestream Health has acquired Quantum Medical Imaging LLC of Ronkonkoma, N.Y., a privately-held manufacturer of high-quality digital and conventional X-ray systems used by hospitals, imaging centers and health clinics. With this acquisition, Carestream Health becomes a global leader in X-ray imaging, providing a broad portfolio of conventional and digital X-ray systems for healthcare providers worldwide.

Quantum Medical Imaging’s portfolio enhances and complements Carestream Health’s broad product line. The combination of the two companies will enable Carestream to better serve the specialized imaging needs of community hospitals and clinics globally.

Quantum Medical Imaging’s dealers and customers will have access to Carestream Health’s medical imaging and healthcare IT solutions. Likewise, there is significant opportunity for Carestream Health to sell Quantum Medical Imaging’s products in international markets, where Carestream Health’s distribution networks reach and serve many healthcare customers. The joint expansion of these product portfolios and the extended market reach will lead to more options for customers and continued growth for both organizations.

Quantum Medical Imaging sells both digital radiography (DR) and conventional X-ray systems, computed radiography (CR) systems and X-ray system components. The company serves hospitals, imaging centers, orthopedic facilities and medical clinics.

Quantum Medical Imaging will be integrated into Carestream Health’s Digital Medical Solutions business. CEO Scott Matovich will continue running Quantum Medical Imaging’s operations and will report to Diana Nole, president of Carestream Health’s Digital Medical Solutions business. Matovich also will manage Carestream Health’s U.S. dealer channel business. The company's headquarters, employees and management team will remain in Long Island, N.Y.
