March 25, 2010 - The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) has elected the officials to serve on ASTRO's Corporate Advisory Council.

The goal of the council is to focus on issues of mutual concern to all corporate members and to increase awareness of radiation therapy and advance the science and practice of radiation therapy in the treatment of cancer.

The Corporate Advisory Council is a representative body of ASTRO's corporate membership, consisting of nearly 100 equipment, device and pharmaceutical companies who are involved in radiation therapy. These elected council seats are balanced among small-, medium- and large-sized corporations and represent a cross section of the radiation oncology industry.
A complete council listing with term expiration is as follows:
Accuray, Inc. 2010
Alliance Oncology 2012
BrainLAB 2010
Calypso Medical 2011
Elekta 2012
GE Healthcare 2010
Multidata Systems 2010
Revenue Cycle, Inc. 2012
Standard Imaging 2011
Varian Medical Systems 2011

ASTRO's corporate membership elected these companies, which was approved by the ASTRO Board of Directors.

"It is very important for ASTRO to maintain good working relationships with our industry partners as these companies continue to provide innovate tools that help our physician members provide care to our patients," said Deborah Kuban, M.D., FASTRO, chair of ASTRO's Corporate Relations Committee and a radiation oncologist at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. "We believe that fostering this forum helps our society successfully connect the patient, doctor and technology in delivering cancer treatment."
