November 20, 2009 - The transfer of ownership of a small footprint, cost-effective MRI platform has effectively changed hands.

ONI Medical Systems announced today that the sale of its MRI technology platform to GE Healthcare, a division of General Electric Company, on November 6, 2009, has effectively closed.

With the purchase of ONI’s high performance, low-cost dedicated purpose MRI technology, GE Healthcare is expanding its product line of MRI healthcare solutions as it aims to support its customers delivery of patient-centered healthcare.

Peter Pellerito, president and CEO of ONI, noted that the Society of Skeletal Radiology (SSR) and the International Skeletal Society (ISS) supported the development of this MRI technology.
