May 20, 2009 – Sapheneia, a global imaging services company, reported that Clarity CT solution has helped lower CT dose 30- 40 percent, according to initial results of an on-going partnership with Children’s Memorial Hospital (“CMH”) of Chicago, Ill., designed to materially reduce CT radiation dose for pediatric patients using Sapheneia’s Clarity CT Solution.
The partnership involves the implementation of Clarity CT Solution in clinical production at CMH to address the growing concern over radiation dose exposure to patients, especially children, during CT diagnostic imaging. Following the installation of Clarity CT Solution, Sapheneia and CMH worked together to fine-tune pediatric specific scanning protocols using the Clarity CT Solution product, to achieve material dose reduction while maintaining or improving image quality and diagnostic confidence.
Commenting on the results of the partnership, Cynthia K. Rigsby, M.D. CMH vice-chair, Department of Medical Imaging said, “Clarity helps lower CT dose 30-40 percent from already reduced pediatric CT doses, and the solution fits seamlessly into our diagnostic imaging workflow.”
The partnership with CMH helped to refine clinically tested and radiologist validated lower-dose CT protocols, which form the core library of Sapheneia’s new product Clarity CT Solution – Pediatrics. This pediatric solution, like all Clarity CT Solutions, is 510(k) cleared and available for sale in the US and global Healthcare markets.
