May 19, 2009 - TeraRecon Inc. said it will meet the rigorous challenges put forth as part of the Stanford Mulitdetector-Row CT Symposium 2009 Workstation Face-off event on Wednesday, May 20th, 2009, San Francisco, Calif., by leveraging new features available in the version 4.4 release of its iNtuition visualization and decision support solution.

Version 4.4 of Aquarius iNtuition is in the “General Availability” phase, meaning it has hundreds of installations and ships as standard to new customers. The Workstation Face-off event will occur at the Hyatt Regency,.

The Stanford MDCT Symposium is a key annual event for multidetector-row CT (MDCT) innovation, where advances in MDCT acquisition and interpretation technology are reviewed by academic researchers, and showcased by vendors. One of the highlights of the technology review is the Workstation Face-off where the most advanced volumetric visualization solutions, often in beta form, are compared and contrasted real-time by expert physicians. As such, the event is widely regarded as one of the most important and demanding advanced visualization forums. TeraRecon will meet these challenges using iNtuition 4.4, via an entirely client/server solution, which is able to be run on ordinary PC’s, as well as upon existing PACS review stations and throughout the many specialty areas within a health enterprise. While it is usual for companies to apply unreleased, beta software in the context of the face-off, TeraRecon will meet all challenges with the fully-released, production build of the iNtuition software.

Key topics addressed by academic presentations at the 2009 symposium include the challenges of storing the great volume of imaging data acquired by modern CT scanners, how to establish and operate a 3D image processing laboratory to support diagnostic interpretation and therapy planning, and how to extract information from current and historical scans, in order to best provide decision support to interpreting and treating physicians. To meet these specific demands, iNtuition offers massively-scalable image storage, seamless advanced visualization workflow collaboration and fully-automated retrieval and processing of prior studies.

“Future advancements in MDCT technology will surely require not only powerful analysis and visualization tools, but also create an increasing reliance on advanced decision support technology to enable speedier, more accurate, and more cost-effective patient management,” said TeraRecon president & CEO, Robert Taylor, Ph.D.
