June 13, 2008 - Codonics brought to SNM 2008, the Virtua Medical Disc Publisher, designed to set a new standard for speed, efficiency and ease of use in automatic disc recorders.

This medical device is a DICOM-compliant network appliance that can concurrently record and label multiple medical studies onto CD and DVD media.

The company will also showcase Integrity, a compact, stand-alone, network-based disc import station that reads, reconciles and stores medical studies.

Also at the show will be the new Infinity Medical Image Server, an expandable DICOM storage appliance that is designed to provide a user-friendly solution for storing and retrieving medical images. An alternative to centralized PACS that works to save time and money, Infinity makes the power of complicated, rack-mounted server systems available to users without special IT skills, according to the company.

If your enterprise is similar to most current hospital health information technology (HIT) architecture, you have clinical/data silos everywhere. This is nothing to be ashamed of; you are normal. But in the coming age of healthcare delivery, silos must be replaced with interoperability. One key to interoperability will be an integrated medical image archive.
