Honeywell Introduces Bar-Code Enabled iPod, iPhone for Healthcare

Honeywell Captuvo Bar Code Technology Inventory Management

March 3, 2014 — Honeywell expanded its Captuvo line of encasements for Apple devices at the HIMSS 2014 Annual Conference & Exposition in Orlando, Fla. The Captuvo SL22h and SL42h are designed for healthcare environments and equip iPod touch (5th generation) and iPhone (5, 5c and 5s) devices. The barcode data collection can increase productivity and support healthcare “Converged Device” strategies.

The SL22h and SL42h sleds have a compact design that offers single-handed functionality for clinical staff performing a variety of tasks, including medication administration, specimen collection and remote patient monitoring. Its purpose-built protective housing is designed to withstand multiple 4-foot drops to offer screen protection. A disinfectant-ready housing allows healthcare professionals to regularly clean the device, minimizing the risk of spreading infectious diseases.

Equipped with Honeywell’s Adaptus 6.0 imaging technology, the Captuvo SL22h and SL42h offer aggressive linear and 2-D scanning. To ensure ‘round the clock’ use, these healthcare-ready sleds come with a hot-swappable and user replaceable battery to eliminate downtime and the need to recharge the device mid-shift.

The Captuvo Healthcare SL22h and SL42h are expected to ship in April 2014.
