March 12, 2008 - Siemens will showcase its latest ultrasound technologies, focusing on its ACUSON S2000, ACUSON X300 and the laptop-based ACUSON P50 echocardiography system, at the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), March 12-15, in San Diego, CA.

The company's new premier general imaging platform, the ACUSON S2000 includes paradigm-shifting strain imaging and quantification capabilities, Virtual Touch tissue imaging and Virtual Touch tissue quantification, uses acoustic energy to displace tissue for a qualitative and quantitative assessment of deep tissue stiffness.

The new ACUSON X300 ultrasound system applies to both general imaging and cardiovascular applications in one package. The system includes capabilities for cardiac assessment, such as syngo Velocity Vector Imaging (VVI) technology for detailed assessment of myocardial mechanics, and syngo Auto Left Heart that uses progressive pattern recognition to measure ejection fraction and volumes of the left ventricle and atrium.

The new ACUSON P50 portable ultrasound system works on an Apple MacBook Pro notebook. Designed for mobile use in cardiac and vascular imaging and weighing less than 12 pounds, the system was designed for mobile use in cardiac and vascular imaging and supports high-quality imaging, such as 2D/B-mode, fundamental and harmonic, anatomical M-mode, color Doppler, and Doppler tissue imaging.
