December 13, 2007 - The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) will hold the third year of its scholarship program for trainees who are interested in imaging informatics, open to radiology residents, fellows and medical students from North America.
Perks include travel expenses and meeting registration for the SIIM 2008 Annual Meeting, as well as a one-year SIIM membership. The SIIM Annual Meeting will take place in Seattle, WA, May 15-18, 2008.
Applicants are asked to submit a 500 to 750 word essay on the following topic: “How Imaging Informatics Affects Radiology Education.” Applicants should ask themselves: What is the impact of new technology and infrastructure on radiology education? Applicants are encouraged to consider both positive and negative impacts, and how informatics may transform the way we teach radiology.
Topics of interest to SIIM members include PACS (monitors, networking, and storage), digital teaching files, speech recognition, computer-aided interpretation, reading room workflow and ergonomics and communication technologies.
The winning essays will be published in the Journal of Digital Imaging or SIIM News.
The application deadline is Feb. 15, 2008.
