The Vision 2008 upgrades to the Philips iU22 aim to bring expanded volumetric capabilities, new imaging solutions for technically difficult patients, new interventional tools and new approaches to improve workflow efficiencies.
Designed for high performance abdominal, obstetrics, gynecology and interventional applications, the new C5-1 curved array transducer for the iU22 enables imaging on all patients, including those who are technically difficult, the company said. The C5-1 reportedly combines the proven image quality of PureWave crystal technology with new developments in tissue aberration correction, coded beamforming and advanced XRES technologies.

For enhanced workflow, Philips offers Protocols, providing a consistent approach to ultrasound exams. Fully customizable, clinicians can set up their own protocol for any type of exam, the company said. An on-screen list informs users of the required views, images are pre-annotated saving time and keystrokes, and prompts alert for measurements and modes. Results from studies reportedly show exam times can be reduced by 30-50 percent using Protocols.
