Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. previewed its first 3-Tesla MR system at the Radiological Society of North America’s annual meeting in Chicago. Developed based on the Excelart Vantage platform, the 3T system boasts a homogeneous magnet design and short-bore combination.
The system will be powered by Atlas technology, which was also introduced at RSNA. In addition, the new system features Toshiba’s patented Pianissimo technology, which reduces acoustic noise. The 3T MR system includes whole-body imaging and spectroscopy to capture information not obtainable with 1.5T MR systems. The Vantage platform offers a range of optional packages for cardiac imaging, including advanced echo planar imaging, diffusion and perfusion imaging, peripheral angiography and fresh blood imaging, SuperFASE imaging and body vision.
The 3T MR received FDA clearance just prior to RSNA, and the system is expected to be commercially available early next year.
