New features improve convenient mobile access for clinicians, help enhance patient care

Carestream, Clinical Collaboration Platform, Winthrop-University Hospital, Mineola New York

May 11, 2016 — Winthrop-University Hospital, Mineola, N.Y., recently added a universal viewer to its Carestream Vue for Clinical Collaboration Platform. This enables hundreds of physicians and specialists to view patient images and reports as they make diagnostic and treatment decisions — often using mobile devices.

“Carestream’s Vue Motion enables physicians to access the entire patient imaging record and radiology reports even when they are not at their desk. The zero-footprint viewer — along with advanced 3-D tools — has made this implementation quick and seamless,” said Rick Perez, administrative director of the hospital’s Department of Radiology. “These new features dramatically improve convenience for clinicians and can help enhance patient care.”

The viewer’s intuitive user interface eliminated the need for training. “Avoiding an intensive training program frees up both IT and radiology resources and increases physician satisfaction by enabling them to become proficient after just minutes of use,” he added. Even when data is archived in Carestream’s Vue for Cloud Services, users do not see any difference in performance because an intelligent workflow is built into the platform.

Perez added that managers will use Carestream’s Vue Beyond business intelligence and reporting dashboard to access system data and gain a real-time look at the hospital’s reading and reporting workflow. The dashboard will make it easy to monitor quality performance metrics like study volume, modality mix, patient type, report turnaround and critical results notification to shorten patient wait times and enhance profitability.

Carestream will demonstrate Vue at the 2016 Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) annual meeting June 29 - July 1, in Portland, Ore.
