Software Assesses Parameters for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Stent Planning

September 27, 2010 — A new plug-in quickly and easily assesses clinically relevant parameters for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) stent planning.

aycan, a picture archiving and communications system (PACS) manufacturer and systems integrator for radiology departments, and SOVAmed GmbH announced a partnership in the area of medical post-processing and their first joint project, SOVA.evar. The system is a plug-in designed by SOVAmed using aycan’s Mac-based OsiriX Pro visualization software (a CE-marked and FDA-certified version of the successful Open Source DICOM viewer OsiriX). It offers processing and visualization of medical imaging data, focusing on abdominal aortic aneurysms.

This new solution was introduced at the 26th annual German Society for Vascular Surgery meeting (DGG 2010), which took place Sept. 7–11 in Berlin. It will be available as a medical certified product in the fourth quarter of 2010.
