Pegasus Imaging Corp. recently released its JPEG 2000 Part 2, an implementation for 3-D volumetric encoding within the PICTools MedX Software Development Kit (SDK), which slices volumetric encoding that supports 24-bit RGB and 8-16 bit grayscale medical images.
Software developers may compress and decompress images using JPEG 2000 Part 2 - 3-D volumetric encoding as used in the DICOM standard of the medical imaging industry. This implementation supports the lossy and lossless modes, as well as the JPEG 2000 raw codestream format and the JPEG 2000 JPX format.
