Live demonstrations of Sagittilt Prone Breast Solution, SBRT Solution and High-Precision Hybrid Open Face Mask to be held during event

Sagittilt Prone Breast Solution Precision Hybrid Open Face Mask Orfit AAPM 2014

July 14, 2014 – Orfit Industries America, North American subsidiary of Orfit Industries, announced it will showcase the Sagittilt Prone Breast Solution, SBRT Solution and High Precision Hybrid Open Face Mask at the American Association of Physicists (AAPM) Conference in Austin, Texas, July 20-24 (Booth 932).

AAPM is a scientific, educational and professional organization of more than 8,000 medical physicists and is headquartered at the American Center for Physics in College Park, Md. Publications include a scientific journal (Medical Physics), technical reports and symposium proceedings.

The Sagittilt Prone Breast Solution is an innovative positioning and immobilization system that accurately sets-up and reproduces the prone position of a breast patient during simulation and treatment. The patient can be tilted up to 10 degrees in increments of 1 degree to let the ipsi-lateral breast fall deeper into the cut-out and further away from the organs at risk, such as heart and lung. Only one person is needed to perform the tilting. To increase comfort, the position of the arms, elbows, legs and forehead is adjustable to the patient’s anatomy. Once set the patient positions are indexed to ensure reproducibility.

The Orfit SBRT Solution provides users with the precision, stability, reproducibility and ease of use required for treatment of abdominal and lung tumors. Unmatched positioning flexibility and high patient comfort are hallmarks of this lightweight fully magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) compatible system. It is supplied with a mechanical or pneumatic abdominal pressure system and a full arrange of adjustable compression arches and accessories designed to facilitate treatment and ensure patient comfort. A quick release patient safety mechanism immediately unlocks the compression screw in the event it is necessary.

The High Precision Hybrid Open Face Mask has been designed to optimize patient comfort during radiation therapy of the head and neck, while enabling better reproducibility and, in many cases, higher-precision treatment than standard head and neck masks. The Open Face Hybrid Mask leaves most of the face uncovered, thereby reducing the often significant discomfort and anxiety experienced by patients undergoing radiation therapy. Reinforced with Orfit’s proprietary thermoplastic materials, the new mask is also thinner and lighter than standard masks, while ensuring maximum horizontal and rotational stability. Like all thermoplastic materials made by Orfit, it is easy to mold and use, providing excellent reproducibility.
