December 1, 2008 – At RSNA 2008, GE Healthcare showcased its Optima XR640, developed to deliver digital productivity with flexibility by providing the same configuration as a digital fixed detector RAD room with the flexibility of a single, shared digital detector and features a moveable detector that mimics traditional patient exam workflow.

A 3-D printed tungsten X-ray system collimator. The tungsten alloy powder is printed into the form desired and is laser fused so it can be machined and finished. Previously, making collimators from Tungsten was labor intensive because it required working with sheets of the metal to create the collimator matrix.
