When used together, the Edwards Vigileo monitor and FloTrac sensor provide continuous cardiac output (CCO), stroke volume (SV), and stroke volume variation (SVV) from an existing arterial line. Continuous SVR is calculated and displayed when interfaced with the patient's bedside monitor. The Vigileo monitor and FloTrac sensor require no manual calibration for the monitoring of flow parameters.
The Vigileo monitor can also measure venous oximetry (ScvO2 - central venous oxygen saturation and SvO2 - mixed venous oxygen saturation) when used with appropriate Edwards Lifesciences oximetry catheters.
The monitor, in conjunction with other bedside monitors and clinical assessment, assists in assessing the patient's status and determining the need and adequacy of therapy in the management of critically ill patients.
