March 8, 2023 — Insignia Medical Systems, a leading UK-based enterprise imaging provider, is enjoying continued success now just over a year on from its acquisition by Intelerad Medical Systems, a global leader in medical image management solutions. The deal signaled an important step in expanding next-generation imaging solutions and resources to help modernize hospital trusts across the UK.

Insignia has provided high-quality imaging solutions that have improved outcomes for patients in the UK for nearly two decades. With the backing of Intelerad, a global company with over 900 employees in offices across six countries, Insignia has seen an expansion in its research and development budget, resulting in enhancements in its offering meeting the ever-growing demands of its NHS, UK private clients, and the healthcare industry.

After dedicating over two decades to the healthcare industry, Insignia co-founder and Managing Director Richard Dormer will retire after having ensured the merge with Intelerad was a smooth and successful partnership. Richard announces his retirement with aspirations for some “down time.”

“It has been a privilege and honor to have been part of the wonderful Insignia journey for over 21 years. From humble beginnings, Insignia has grown to become a trusted partner for so many healthcare organizations throughout the UK. I am immensely proud of our team who share a common ethos dedicated to helping our clients improve the health and wellbeing of their patients. Insignia now continues to grow within the amazing Intelerad family, a worldwide healthcare IT organization who share our vision to always put patients first. Together, Insignia and Intelerad are able to accelerate the development and delivery of services that will make a positive difference for our clients and the wellbeing of so many people around the globe.

It is now time for me to retire and hand over the UK management reins to Mr. Arron Edwards, a Director and Board member of Insignia for over 10 years and one of our original founders. Arron is also a member of the Intelerad Senior Management Team and leads the UK Management Team into the next exciting stage of our journey. I would like to thank our team and our clients who have made my time at Insignia such a pleasure; there has not been a single day in over 21 years that I have wanted to do anything else. For our clients, I leave knowing that you are in the best possible hands with an exciting future ahead.”

Arron Edwards, the newly appointed Managing Director, Insignia Medical Systems, commented, “It’s with fond farewells and excitement that I take on the role of Managing Director for Insignia. Richard has and will always continue to be a part of Insignia as a trusted friend and colleague. We have worked together over the past two decades to build Insignia into the trusted partner of the NHS and other private providers that it is today, and I know that Richard deserves to enjoy his retirement,” said Edwards.“It is the proudest moment of my professional career to lead Insignia and the extremely talented people within it. Insignia, powered by Intelerad, offers incredible opportunities that I am excited to grasp, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes.”

Along with Arron’s new role, Insignia also announced the promotion of Liam Neill to the position of Director of Sales, UK and Ireland, Insignia Medical Systems, building himself a new team and taking Insignia forward into 2023.

“The last 12 months have been transformational for our business here in the UK and Ireland and allowed us to open up a whole new portfolio of products and partnerships to our client base. We are still seen and valued as the local provider but now have the backing and support of the global Intelerad organization, enabling us to focus our time and attention where it is best suited – on our clients and their patients”, said Neill. “The next 12 months brings so much opportunity to which we are very excited as we spread awareness of our products and the benefits. As our Managing Director, Richard Dormer starts a new chapter and takes a well-deserved break after building such a successful brand and business, I was delighted and honoured to be promoted to Director of Sales, and I am supremely excited for what the future holds,” he added.

Growth and investment remain top priorities for the organization, and investment in people has been a priority since the two companies joined, with 15 new hires on the UK team. Increased headcount and the new support model have helped increase responsiveness and reduce delays, ensuring clients are receiving the best possible support. The company also acquired PenRad Technologies, aiding targeted lung and breast screening, and Life Image, forming the largest medical image exchange network in the world. Insignia was able to showcase its partnership and extended range of products and services with its return to both UKIO and RSNA in 2022.
