bkActiv S series advances precision care with scalable technology and high-quality imaging for a wide range of applications.

GE HealthCare Introduces bkActiv S Series for Guiding Nonsurgical Urology, Colorectal and Pelvic Floor Procedures

June 16, 23025 —GE HealthCare has launched the bkActiv S series, representing the next era of intraoperative ultrasound. The bkActiv S series is part of the bkPortfolio family of Active Imaging systems, designed to provide interventional guidance during urology, colorectal and pelvic floor procedures.

The bkActiv S series empowers clinicians with precise ultrasound guidance, enabling clear visualization of anatomical structures to support confident, real-time decision-making and better patient outcomes. The system also delivers exceptional imaging quality, an intuitive, modern interface, and Prostate Volume Assist (PVA) - an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven feature that automates processes, streamlines workflows and elevates the user experience.

GE Healthcare bkActiv S series

“At GE HealthCare, our Surgical Visualization and Guidance team is committed to advancing technologies that make a significant difference in the surgical environment and meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said Matthijs Groot Wassink, General Manager, Surgical Innovations at GE HealthCare. “The bkActiv S system will help support clinicians across a wide range of procedures—including prostate diagnostics, biopsy, and treatment guidance—and reflects our focus on helping navigate increasingly complex surgical procedures with greater precision.”

The bkActiv S series includes a modern touch interface with TruSense technology and customizable options, allowing users to personalize their preferred layout for efficiency. In addition, Smart Button transducer technology gives users the option to select from a variety of functionalities to elevate user control and flexibility to utilize the system with one hand. Clinicians can capture images with remarkable resolution, while smart digital tools help improve contrast and detail resolution with a range of high-performance transducers. The system's Image Compare mode helps clinicians retrieve a stored image and view alongside a live ultrasound image, facilitating real-time comparisons and measurements.

The bkActiv S series also integrates PRISM Technology—which includes the TruFocus algorithm for auto-optimization of images for exceptional detail and clarity. Adaptive Noise Suppression reduces noise, enabling deeper visualization without haziness and automatically adjusting gain levels during imaging. In addition, AI-based software PVA can enhance the user experience and save time, automating prostate measurements with one click.
