The LumaGEM molecular breast imaging (MBI) system is a planar, dual-head, fully solid state digital imaging system utilizing cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) technology for breast imaging.

It features proprietary Gamma Medica-Industrial Imaging Division application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) to achieve imaging performance. MBI identifies tumors in dense breast tissue that are often not visible with X-ray based analog or digital mammography. It uses direct conversion of gamma photons to electrical signals, which helps to achieve lower dose.

LumaGEM delivers scans with a 1.6 mm intrinsic resolution and 4.5 percent FWHM energy resolution. It is available in single- or dual-head configuration. It also has a gantry that is versatile in positioning the patient, with a full range of motion.
