Functionality enables quick, confidential image and file sharing with any physician or facility

July 21, 2014 — eMix has released Version 2.0 of its cloud-based medical-image exchange solution — including a new capability that enhances the immediate transmission of medical imaging files and related information.

The new capability is called eMix Instant Sender. It allows a doctor, medical facility or attorney to quickly and confidentially deliver medical imaging exams, reports and other information to any recipient online.

eMix functionality also now includes:

  • No setup, registration or contract required.
  • Viewing of images and information by the recipient using a zero footprint viewer or by routing to a picture archive and communications system (PACS).
  • A more convenient means to immediately provide a second opinion or consulting services to other providers.

eMix is used by several hundred medical facilities to transmit over 15,000 images and related information per month.

To initiate an eMix Instant Sender information exchange, the sender needs only to go to eMix.com and click the green "Start Sending" button. If the recipient is a subscribing eMix customer, the transaction is free to the sender.

eMix replaces older, more costly and cumbersome methods such as burning CDs or printing film. This approach enables facilities to save money on staff time, supplies and associated courier costs. eMix also avoids such problems as lost and unreadable CDs, along with other technical issues that can lead to redundant imaging.

The service, which was developed by DR Systems, has eight layers of security: physically secure data center, network access security, member verification, user authentication, SSL 3.0/TLS 1.0 encryption data transmission, data redundancy and retention, auditing and new recipient confirmation.
