October 27, 2007 - Aurora will feature its Aurora 1.5T Dedicated Breast MRI System that is designed specifically for breast imaging, creating an elliptical, homogenous field of view, providing coverage of both breasts, chest wall and axillae in a single bilateral scan, reportedly without compromise in contrast or resolution, at RSNA 2007.

The breast MRI system, which includes Bilateral 3D SpiralRODEO, has a fully integrated, user-friendly AuroraBiopsy system with the ability to accommodate core biopsy or vacuum-assisted biopsy devices. Its DICOM-compatible, AuroraCAD physician workstation facilitates image multiplanar reformation (MPR) and 3D Maximum Intensity Projections (3D-MIP), as well as subtraction and dynamic enhancement studies. The flared table design, incorporating feet-first entry, improves patient comfort and allows greater access to the breasts for biopsy intervention.

Also under demonstration will be the AuroraBIOPSY, said to be the first completely automated and fully integrated MR-guided biopsy technology available on the market. AuroraBIOPSY is exclusive to the Aurora Breast MRI System Since the Aurora System was designed specifically with a woman’s anatomy in mind.

The patient table reportedly provides the physician with the largest access area to the breasts for both medial and lateral approaches. It allows fast, accurate targeting and needle placement coordinated with the integrated scan console and image acquisition software displayed on a computer screen, according to the company. Unlike the more commonly used manual methods which allow for human error, with the AuroraBIOPSY, physicians no longer need to perform manual calculations and then count grid squares to determine needle placement.
