ASRT Foundation Names Sackett Scholarship Award Winner

Jan. 20, 2026 — The American Society of Radiologic Technicians (ASRT) Foundation has named ASRT member Danielle McDonagh, D.H.Sc., R.T.(T), as the 2026 recipient of the Marilyn Sackett Leadership Scholarship in honor of Marilyn Sackett, M.Ed., R.T.(R), FASRT.

Sackett has been a registered radiologic technologist for 64 years and is currently the president of Advanced Health Education Center Foundation and managing partner and president of Advanced Health Education Center MEDRelief Staffing in Houston.

Dr. McDonagh serves as the Program Director of Radiation Therapy at Mount Sinai Center for Radiation Sciences Education in New York City. During her more than 17 years of clinical experience she developed and led competency-based curricula that support student progression from entry-level training to professional practice.

Aligning with the scholarship’s goal, Dr. McDonagh plans to present a leadership project at the ASRT Radiation Therapy Conference, Sept. 27-29, 2026, in Boston. Her project will focus on advancing educational scholarship and research capacity through a mentored Virtual Objective Structured Clinical Examination within a virtual education suite.

“This scholarship will support my growth from an education-focused program director to a research-active academic who contributes to the scholarship of teaching and learning in radiation sciences,” said Dr. McDonagh. “Through formal coursework, structured mentorship, applied mixed-methods research and conference participation, I aim to strengthen skills in study design, data analysis and dissemination.”

The ASRT Foundation has offered the Marilyn Sackett Leadership Scholarship for four years; it supports a project opportunity in education or administrative management or a quality management initiative that includes recruiting and working with a mentor. Sackett created the scholarship to encourage radiologic technologists to accept leadership challenges, helping advance the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession. Sackett recently celebrated 60 years as an ASRT member.
