HIMSS22 hosted nearly 29,000 attendees on-site and on HIMSS22 Digital who attended for the education, innovation and collaboration they need to reimagine health and wellness for everyone, everywhere. For most, it was a refreshing change from the industry's 2021 trade shows. 

There was a robust crowd waiting to register for HIMSS22, with waiting lines rivaling those of pre-COVID.

At HIMSS22, Elekta Vice President of Marketing for Oncology Informatics Matt Vigar discussed Elekta's focus on digital transformation. "We are moving toward cloud based services, so we partnered with Microsoft," he told ITN Editorial Director Melinda Taschetta-Millane. At HIMSS22, GE Healthcare announced its intention to introduce Edison Digital Health Platform, a vendor-agnostic hosting and data aggregation platform with an integrated artificial intelligence (AI) engine. The platform is being developed to enable hospitals and healthcare systems to effectively deploy the clinical, workflow, analytics and AI tools which would support the improvement of  care delivery, the promotion of high-efficiency operations, and the increase of revenue growth, while also supporting reduction in the IT burden that typically comes with installing and integrating apps across the enterprise. At the GE Healthcare booth, Editorial Director Melinda Taschetta-Millane learned more about Boundaryless Healthcare from Priyank Sharma, and how digital tools are allowing clinicians to collaborate seamlessly with peers, practice within an optimized department, and provide their best- most efficient care- to patients at every visit. Lead the Disruption was Canon Medical's, theme this year at HIMSS22. "By lead the disruption, we mean there's a lot of things within the enterprise imaging space and the PACS space, and we kind of were lucky enough to start with a new clean sheet of paper," Jack Oblein, Director of Sales Enablement, explained to Editorial Director Melinda Taschetta-Millane. "We don't have a huge install base that we have to migrate and do those sorts of transitions, so our overall design philosophy is built along the ONC guidelines. What you are driving is the interoperability. So one of the primary themes with lead the disruption is just one of the premises of data neutrality. You're not doing things to data that might limit access to data or limit the interoperability."

At HIMSS22, Kevin Borden, Vice President of Product, HCIT, for Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas, talked about how software automation can help improve many processes, including verifying eligibility for patient exams, navigating the patient responsibility landscape, and meeting the upcoming CDSM mandate for Appropriate Use Criteria. At the annual meeting of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas, Inc. highlighted new features of the Exa Platform that automate common clinical and administrative tasks, enabling radiology departments and practices to enhance staff productivity, improve reimbursement and capture non-covered costs. The Exa Platform is comprised of multiple modules including RIS, PACS, Billing and specialty viewers across a shared database that can be used individually or together for a complete Enterprise Imaging experience. Philips announced the expansion of its medical device cybersecurity services portfolio at HIMSS22. Secure Remote Access Management Service leverages the broad set of security capabilities enabled by the integration of SecureLink’s critical access management and governance technology with Philips Remote Services’ secure connectivity framework for technical and clinical support. The services provide benefits for healthcare providers including increased uptime, clinical performance, and advanced security to help protect access to their clinical solutions and medical devices. This image of Sectra's UniView Enterprise Viewer is crossing photos from pathology where it takes pictures or photos of the slices that have been created created. The pathology solution is part of Sectra’s enterprise imaging solution that provides a unified strategy for all imaging needs while lowering operational costs.
