Two organizations will conduct joint research at Houston Methodist Research Institute while Siemens provides latest in imaging and imaging IT technology

Houston Methodist Hospital Enters Multi-Year Technology and Research Agreement With Siemens Healthineers

August 17, 2017 — Houston Methodist Hospital and Siemens Healthineers have entered into a multi-year agreement to bring cutting-edge technology to Houston Methodist that is not currently available in the Texas Medical Center. This agreement will provide innovative, world-class medical technology to Houston Methodist Hospital and all of its community hospital facilities.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Houston Methodist Research Institute will be equipped with the latest technology in the areas of angiography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), molecular imaging, imaging information technology (IT) and ultrasound. A focal point of the facility will be two interventional suites that incorporate a traditional hybrid CT/angiography suite with the latest in advanced imaging technology. The collaboration and access to advanced imaging technology provides an opportunity for seamless clinical translation, bringing treatments quickly from the lab to the patient’s bedside.

The two organizations also will enter into an agreement to conduct joint research at the Houston Methodist Research Institute, where Siemens Healthineers is also delivering an investigational 7T MR to be used for research only. Siemens Healthineers engineers will work at the Research Institute on new advancements in imaging with researchers from around the Texas Medical Center who will have access to the facility.

This agreement will make Siemens Healthineers a primary provider of diagnostic imaging equipment to all Houston Methodist campuses. With this agreement, Siemens Healthineers will provide a comprehensive coverage model, including onsite service engineers, a dedicated service manager and onsite research scientists.

“We are eager to start our work together and look forward to seeing the outcome of this promising collaboration,” said Marc Boom, M.D., president and CEO of Houston Methodist. “We also look forward to working with scientists at Siemens Healthineers who share our mission of leading medicine.”
