January 3, 2017 — Novarad has been named as a vendor for the Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) Image Share Validation program, which verifies that medical imaging systems are compliant with international standards for sharing medical images and reports. The program follows standards developed by DICOM and Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE)
In conjunction with The Sequoia Project, the RSNA Image Share Validation program seeks to advance implementation of a secure, interoperable nationwide health information exchange. These organizations created the Image Share to encourage adoption of greater image-sharing capabilities by both vendors and radiology sites. It is hoped that the Image Share and participating vendors will enable patients and providers to make better decisions about care and lead to greater efficiency in regards to imaging systems and patient safety.
According to The Sequoia Project’s website, the RSNA Image Share Validation benefits patients and providers alike through improved efficiency, reduced costs, enhanced quality of care and standards-based interoperability.
