System follows patients through full completion of breast imaging exam process, monitoring follow-up exams and generating specific reports and alerts

December 7, 2016 — Ikonopedia showcased its new Closed-Loop Resolution Manager, designed to keep breast imaging patients from falling through the cracks, at the 102nd Annual Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting, Nov. 27-Dec. 2 in Chicago. The Ikonopedia Closed-Loop Resolution Manager monitors patients to full resolution of all clinical concerns, saving valuable time for the radiologist and staff. Ikonopedia demonstrated the new system at the Konica Minolta booth, who is an integration partner.

The system is designed to know when a patient returns for a follow-up encounter, and will close the loop automatically at that time or send an alert if the patient is overdue. Specific reports can be generated to reconcile high-risk patients that have not returned for follow-up.

The Ikonopedia structured reporting system reliably captures pertinent data to meticulously track patients through each stage of the exam process. The Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA)-compliant toolset is targeted and automated to monitor patients in all categories of care.  Structured data is captured from the patient questionnaire, risk-assessment, tech report, clinical report, follow-up recommendations and more. Data is monitored to produce automatic warnings and alerts, personalized patient letters and a detailed report to relay these findings to referring physicians.

"Ikonopedia has a robust breast reporting system at a very reasonable price point and had the ability to work fast and smart to get us operational quickly. With the Closed-Loop Resolution Manager, we can ensure that all women get the appropriate follow-up. That's important to me as a clinician and it's critical to women's peace of mind," said Cheryl Futerman, M.D., radiologist, who owns Welch Road Imaging, a free-standing outpatient imaging center in Menlo Park, Calif.

Ikonopedia provides reporting tools for screening and diagnostic modalities including mammography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MQSA audit data is automatically captured in the background and reports are Breast Imaging-Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) language-compliant based on the latest BI-RADS Atlas (5th edition). Data is pulled forward from previous exams and the risk-assessment tools, including Tyrer Cuzick, to automatically alert the radiologist and populate reports for high-risk patients.
