August 23, 2016 — Agfa HealthCare announced that the U.S. government has awarded the company its DIN-PACS IV (Digital Imaging Network/Picture Archiving and Communication System) contract. The contract term includes one five-year base period and one five-year option period. According to a recent announcement by the U.S. Department of Defense, the potential maximum value for Agfa's contract is up to $768 million over the ten years.
The DIN-PACS IV contract allows U.S. government healthcare providers to purchase diagnostic imaging IT and related technology solutions on-demand, providing flexibility, cost savings and quality enhancement in service to its healthcare consumers.
The announcement marks the fourth time Agfa has been awarded a DIN-PACS contract. Under the previous three contracts, Agfa has delivered more than $600 million in products and services. The new DIN-PACS IV contract includes departmental (e.g., radiology, cardiology, etc.) and enterprise imaging informatics solutions (e.g. vendor neutral archives, image sharing, etc), integration services and support programs to be used by U.S. federal agencies.
Agfa's prior DIN-PACS contracts have included projects for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Justice, and other agencies requiring DIN-PACS products and services.
