Solution improves interoperability between data sources to help radiologists actively participate in patient care

Conserus Imaging Fellow, McKesson, Enterprise imaging

February 29, 2016 — McKesson announced Conserus Imaging Fellow to help automate and simplify access to relevant clinical data by integrating information from the picture archiving and communication system (PACS) with other data sources such as electronic health records (EHRs). The solution presents the relevant information for the specific clinical scenario at the point of care, within the imaging cockpit.

The patented solution is a key part of Conserus, a suite of flexible, vendor-agnostic solutions for healthcare information technology (IT) enterprise and diagnostic imaging. The solution suite is designed to help healthcare providers of all sizes and complexities go beyond simple vendor neutral archives (VNAs) and traditional departmental systems to orchestrate workflows by enabling interoperability.

Conserus Imaging Fellow leverages McKesson’s domain knowledge in imaging and workflow. In the move towards value-based care it is important that clinicians have the complete patient health picture when making clinical decisions. The increasing adoption of EHRs has made much of the available patient clinical information digital, however it often doesn’t translate to effective utilization at the point of care due to complexities around navigating the vast amount of data.

Conserus Imaging Fellow breaks this barrier and helps automate the use of clinical data by making it accessible in the imaging cockpit, within the context of the task at hand. This information may include lab results, medications, problems lists, notes or pathology reports; information that previously an imaging clinician would have had to manually search out from multiple systems. In doing so, this solution helps address key challenges: access to valuable context-sensitive information, helping to reduce errors from manually searching for information, and helping to improve efficiency in the imaging workflow.

Conserus Imaging Fellow will be on display during the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society annual conference and exhibition (HIMSS16), Feb. 28-March 4 in Las Vegas.
