New multi-year agreement puts evidence-based criteria to use across military treatment facilities worldwide

January 28, 2016 — The Military Health System has signed an agreement for its Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) to use InterQual, an evidence-based clinical decision support tool. This tool is designed to complement, not replace, the healthcare professional’s clinical judgment in providing care at the most appropriate level. Award of this contract will support MTF accessibility to this tool in approximately 55 inpatient military hospitals and 373 ambulatory care clinics around the world.

The InterQual clinical development team synthesizes the most current, best evidence into a fully referenced decision support tool that is reviewed and updated annually. InterQual’s development process is founded on rigorous review of the literature and includes extensive peer review by practicing clinical experts across the United States.

The Military Health System has licensed all of the InterQual Level of Care, Behavioral Health and Care Planning Criteria. This clinical content will be delivered to the Military Health System via InterQual Anonymous Review, interactive software that helps government organizations meet patient data confidentiality standards.

Military Health System promotes the delivery of integrated, affordable high-quality health services to uniformed service personnel and retirees, as well as their families.
