November 29, 2015 – NexGenic announced its ImageInbox app is available as a free Android app in the Google Play Store, allowing patients everywhere to securely share medical images. The new Android OS extends the ImageInbox image exchange platform to include more than 96 percent of smartphone users worldwide, giving them control of their full-resolution diagnostic images, necessary for healthcare providers to make important treatment decisions. Available immediately, the ImageInbox platform (image exchange, enterprise CD intake, electronic health record portal integration) will be demonstrated during the Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) 101st scientific assembly and annual meeting, Nov. 29 – Dec. 4 in Chicago.

It is now possible for all patients using Android and iPhone smartphones or tablets to download the free ImageInbox app and at no cost exchange images and diagnostic reports with their healthcare providers, and securely deliver them on demand to future healthcare providers as easily as sending an email.

Healthcare providers can use the HIPAA-compliant app to electronically send and receive medical images with other providers and patients for free (up to 25 exchanges each month). All transfers occur directly between users; no third-party storage vendor or clearinghouse needed. Comprehensive and helpful videos and documentation are available online, guiding healthcare providers through the process to create their account, add affiliate providers and securely transfer images directly from their picture archiving and communication system (PACS) to referral providers and patients.

Patients get started by downloading the free app from the Google Play or Apple App store on their smartphone or tablet devices. Sending and receiving medical images is available immediately once an account is created. Patients can have confidence that even if their provider isn’t already using ImageInbox, they can begin exchanging images quickly and at no cost. In addition, patients can use the ImageInbox desktop app to import prior studies they already have on CD into their encrypted archive and manage them using their smartphone.

ImageInbox is available to healthcare providers in a freemium pricing structure determined only by the volume of that user’s monthly exchanges. Providers using less than 25 transfers (image exams and diagnostic reports) per month can use the service for free. Those with 25-100 transfers are charged a flat rate of $0.99/exam transfer, and those with more than 100 outside image transfers are quoted for their costs based on their specific exchange requirements.

ImageInbox is an EHR module certified to meet current Stage 2 Meaningful Use criteria for ‘Imaging Results’ 170.314(a)(12) and ‘Secure Messaging’ 170.314(e)(3), for use in both Ambulatory and Inpatient practice.
