Australian Comprehensive Cancer Center Switches to Elekta's Mosaiq Oncology Information System

January 30, 2015 — The conversion to Elekta's Mosaiq oncology information systems (OIS) for radiation oncology, hematology/medical oncology and pediatric oncology at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre (QEIIMC), Perth, WA, will occur in stages from mid-2015 to 2016 as part of consolidating the cancer care of four Western Australian public services into a single, multi-disciplinary facility.

The consolidation comprises the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital and the new Children's Hospital.

Today, more than two thirds of radiation oncology departments in Australia rely on Mosaiq OIS. Officials at the four clinics spent several months evaluating many of these departments and their use of Mosaiq – both its features and its performance. In addition to compatibility with virtually all linear accelerators (linacs), including the medical center's Varian linacs and a CyberKnife treatment system, the following aspects of Elekta and Mosaiq were critical in their decision to change to a new OIS, according to Andrew Wilson, managing director of Elekta Australia:
