August 21, 2014 — IDS announced that Desert Imaging (DI) of El Paso, Texas, has implemented IDS’ AbbaDox RAD cloud-based radiology IT platform to manage imaging workflow for its growing multisite imaging practice. DI’s two outpatient imaging centers and mobile mammography suites are benefitting from AbbaDox RAD’s seamlessly integrated RIS (radiology information system), PACS (picture archiving and communications system), Voice2Dox speech recognition clinical reporting, referring physician portal and CRM to expand their referral base.

“After a thorough survey of the marketplace, we found that IDS provides a single, turnkey suite of solutions that can seamlessly manage our clinical and administrative needs from end to end,” said Raul Arizpe, DI general manager. He noted that as a secure cloud-based platform, AbbaDox RAD eliminates the need for internal IT support and delivers automatic upgrades to keep the practice in the forefront of the technology curve.

The DI installation took advantage of the innovative AbbaDox Integration Cloud Service to streamline the HL7 implementation process. “All setup of customized interoperability and HL7 information flow was managed by IDS as a turnkey service that relied on its existing HL7 building blocks. The entire project was virtually plug-and-play with minimal disruption in our workflow,” Arizpe noted. DI was up and running with state-of-the-art functionality in weeks.

“The age of healthcare IT in the cloud has arrived. Like Desert Imaging, more and more medical facilities are recognizing the benefits of cloud-based enterprise solutions. They realize that the outpatient imaging space has changed with a focus on a high level of service and patient satisfaction like never before. AbbaDox cloud offers unmatched flexibility with intuitive workflows and collaboration tools, and streamlines referring physician communication, enabling this focus,” said Yaniv Dagan, CEO of IDS. “We are extremely pleased to partner with Desert Imaging, which is committed to leveraging the latest technologies for the benefit of patient care and to grow their patient base.”

Dagan notes that IDS cloud-based infrastructure makes the number of client imaging locations irrelevant: “We have a growing number of users around the country that rely on AbbaDox RAD and the IDS cloud as their operational focal hub for multiple sites. IDS carefully manages all technology, which resides at the Terremark NAP of the Americas data center.”

Today, the fully integrated AbbaDox RAD cloud-based product suite streamlines exam scheduling, intake forms management, interpretation, results communication, image sharing and physician communication for DI’s broad range of state-of-the-art exams. These include MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), CT (computed tomography), PET/CT (positron emission tomography/CT), bone density, fluoroscopy, digital mammography, nuclear medicine, ultrasound and X-ray. AbbaDox RAD technology also plays a key role in the management of the practice’s mobile mammography service, which reaches out to the community with a high-tech digital breast imaging suite on wheels.

Through the AbbaDox RIS, exam scheduling is accessible across all facilities and the mobile installation. A modality worklist speeds workflow and assures data accuracy. Voice2Dox provides integrated speech recognition and a full range of customized, searchable templates. Reports may be signed from any PC, tablet or phone.
