April 7, 2014 — West Physics acquired Medical Physics Services Inc. (MPS) of Daphne, Ala. MPS has provided diagnostic medical physics testing and consulting services in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi since 1990.

The acquisition expands West Physics' client base in the Southeastern United States while at the same time permitting the founder and owner of MPS, Michael D. Williams, to retire after many decades of providing quality medical physics services to his surrounding community.

As part of the acquisition, West Physics will continue providing all of the existing services that MPS has provided to their customer base, which includes mammography, radiography and fluoroscopy testing, as well as nuclear medicine regulatory auditing; additionally, West Physics will make available numerous other physics services that MPS did not offer, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and NM/positron emission tomography (PET) accreditation support, dose reduction consulting and MRI safety auditing.
