It also acquires Aquilion Premium CT to enhance patient care and safety in new ED


August 5, 2013 — Jameson Hospital, in New Castle, Pa., has opened a new emergency department (ED) to bring advanced healthcare to its patient population. As part of the new facility, Jameson installed the first Radrex-i Wireless digital radiographic (DR) system and an Aquilion Premium computed tomography (CT) system from Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. Jameson Hospital utilizes these systems for a variety of exams to improve patient care, safety and workflow in a high-volume ED setting.

 “We went 100 percent wireless at our new facility and Radrex-i Wireless provides us with a digital, durable and efficient system,” said Jane Beight, director, diagnostic services, Jameson Health System. “For example, RexView allows our technologists to review images bedside, keeping them closer to ED patients who are often anxious or in pain.”

Radrex-i Wireless features a lightweight, cableless, 14-inch by 17-inch panel that is easy to use and improves image quality. The system’s RexSpeed technology and RexView with image preview automate exams while allowing technologists to make point-of-care decisions. The Radrex-i Wireless DR X-ray system provides versatile imaging with high throughput capabilities, which makes it ideal for urgent care situations.

“Aquilion Premium’s table weight limit, large bore size and fast acquisition enable us to image more patients, improving workflow,” said Beight.

Aquilion Premium has 160 detector rows (320 slices) that can image up to 8 cm of anatomy in a single and fast gantry rotation (as fast as 0.35 seconds). The system’s AIDR 3-D technology significantly lowers radiation dose for safer procedures.
