January 7, 2013 —  Medweb announced the availability of the Medweb Zero Footprint Viewer, enabling clinicians to access and view patient images across myriad of desktops and mobile devices in response to the increasing demand of BYOD (bring your own devices) architectures. Included with the Medweb zero footprint viewer are all the basic functions clinicians need for viewing medical images and reports from a multitude of clinical imaging devices from the imaging department, as well as a suite of handheld diagnostic tools.

The Medweb Zero Footprint Viewer uses existing digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) or IHE gateways to interface to existing DICOM devices or archives — either from Medweb or other manufacturers and suppliers. The viewer helps transform the accessibility of patient imaging cross-enterprise through a secure architecture for medical image distribution in a HIPAA-compliant manner. It supports a host of Web browsers, operating systems and mobile devices, including: Android, iPad, iPhone, Windows 7 or 8, Mac and Linux.

The Medweb Zero Footprint Viewer integrates with Medweb Collage live video and diagnostic imaging collaboration on desktop, laptop and tablet computers as well as smart phones.

Available as an upgrade to any Medweb server solution, the Medweb Zero Footprint Viewer can also be interfaced to existing DICOM devices or archives from other manufacturers. As with many of its Web-based solutions, Medweb also offers the Zero Footprint Viewer as a cost-effective hosted option.
