December 12, 2012 — Alere Wellogic, the health information arm of Alere Inc., announced that its Electronic Health Record (EHR) system is now available to help radiologists and imaging centers achieve "meaningful use" certification and qualify for incentives as part of the federal Meaningful Use Program. The solution was on display at the Radiological Society of North America's (RSNA) 98th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting, held from Nov. 26th-30th at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Integrated with the company's Health Information Exchange (HIE), the Alere EHR offers providers quick, secure access to patient records as well as the ability to view patient information from all connected venues of care, including national and regional laboratories, imaging centers, and pharmacies.

The EHR and HIE are mobile-friendly, and users can view and interact with the data via applications on Apple's iPad and iPad mini, in addition via Web browsers on other tablet and desktop devices. These solutions also feature Direct Secure messaging, which allows physicians to collaborate easily with one another through any system that supports this national standard.

With the Alere EHR, physicians can view diagnostic images alongside reports. Additionally, the solution's decision support and analytics capabilities, built around evidence-based rules and best practice guidelines, can help them make actionable recommendations that are patient-specific and evaluate practice performance, with the ultimate goal of improving practice efficiencies and enabling safer, more cost-effective care.

"Alere Wellogic was a clear choice," says Robert Glassberg, M.D., president and CEO of Atlantic Medical Imaging, a diagnostic imaging group of 39 board certified radiologists and 450 member staff serving the southern New Jersey region since 1964. "Their EHR is not only intuitive and elegant, but has also improved practice efficiencies. Above all, we have quickly achieved 'Meaningful Use' with very little impact on our radiologists' workflow."

"For physicians wary of EHR adoption, our solution is a breath of fresh air. We have proven that physicians and staff can quickly learn how to use it, make it work the way they do, and focus on patients and improving outcomes rather than struggling with technology adoption," said Sumit Nagpal, president and CEO of Alere Wellogic.
