EOS Imaging System Installed at Massachusetts General Hospital

October 23, 2012 — EOS Imaging announced that Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) has installed the EOS low-dose 2-D/3-D imaging system for orthopedic clinical use. Based in Boston, MGH is one of the nation’s leading research hospitals and is ranked among the top U.S. hospitals for orthopedic care.

The EOS imaging system provides full-body images of patients in a natural standing or seated position, both in 2-D and 3-D. It automatically calculates a broad range of clinical parameters essential to diagnosis and surgical planning, allowing for more informed diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic conditions, including scoliosis, degenerative spine conditions and lower limb joint conditions. Notably, EOS offers high-quality images while delivering a radiation dose that is nine times lower than that of computed radiography X-ray and 20 times lower than basic computed tomography (CT) scans.

Marie Meynadier, CEO of EOS imaging, said, “The adoption of EOS at MGH speaks to the critical role of the technology in orthopedic care. EOS is replacing traditional radiographic systems for obtaining weight-bearing surveys of the entire spine and lower extremities, while helping to improve patient throughput and technologist productivity and providing 3-D information unavailable until now. We are pleased that the system will be available to orthopedists in the MGH community, who are at the forefront of clinical care and medical research, as we continue our focus on expanding patient access to our leading 2-D/3-D imaging technology at centers across the U.S.”
