September 28, 2012 — Sectra has announced an agreement with four healthcare providers to deploy its picture archiving and communication system (PACS) in 17 outpatient imaging centers located throughout the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington. This solution will allow the imaging centers access to all relevant patient images and information through a data center hosted by Harrison Medical Center, an existing Sectra PACS customer.

"This agreement provides a single, standard platform from which to securely share radiological images, such as CT (computed tomography) scans and X-rays, among our local medical community. It is a necessary element to further our mission of providing exceptional patient care throughout the peninsula," said Adar Palis, executive vice president and chief administrative officer (CAO) for Harrison.

This strategic configuration between Harrison Medical Center, Advanced Medical Imaging, Olympic Radiology Associates and The Doctors Clinic allows each organization to have access to necessary patient information through a virtual database, regardless of where it originated. The centralized archive will greatly reduce the IT cost infrastructure for the providers and improve the continuum of care in the region.

"We believe this regionalization of PACS is the future of imaging. Cooperation between entities resulting in a reduced cost per exam will help to ensure the financial success of these providers," said Mikael Anden, president of Sectra North America.
